The City of Martinez is excited to welcome its newly elected officials in a special ceremony on December 11, 2024. Please join us at 5pm for a reception in the lobby of City Hall, featuring light finger foods, desserts, and drinks, followed by a special meeting of the City Council at 6pm, where the Council, staff, and other organizations will bid farewell to our departing officials and witness the swearing-in of the newly elected officials. Councilmember Mark Ross, who has served on the City Council for 28 years, will be retiring from his seat as the District 2 representative. Richard G. Hernandez, City Clerk for the past 28 years, will be leaving his office as the City Clerk transitions to an appointed, not elected, position; he will perform his last official act by swearing in the newly elected officials. We appreciate the years of service that Councilmember Ross and City Clerk Hernandez have given to the City and the positive impact they have had on our community, and look forward to recognizing their contributions to Martinez. Greg Young will be sworn in as the new Councilmember for District 2, and Satinder S. Malhi returns as Councilmember for District 3. Additionally, Carolyn L. Robinson will be continue to serve as the City Treasurer. The ceremony will conclude with the adjourned regular meeting of the new City Council at 7pm, marking the first meeting with new District 2 Councilmember Greg Young on the dais. We look forward to celebrating both our departing officials and welcoming our newly-elected officials. Martinez residents are encouraged to attend and commemorate this significant event in the City's governance!
